Yes. In India, you can send a legal notice yourself without hiring a lawyer.
A legal notice is essentially a formal written demand. There is no law requiring it to be drafted or sent by an advocate. A notice sent directly by a consumer can be just as valid as one sent through a lawyer.
However, there are practical differences:
| Self-Sent Notice | Advocate Notice |
|---|---|
| Low cost | Costs money |
| Legally valid | Legally valid |
| Brand may treat it as a customer complaint | Brand may take it more seriously |
| You control the wording | Lawyer ensures proper legal drafting |
| Can be sent immediately | Requires engaging counsel |
